Is Granderson Enough? Poll Results

With the signing of Granderson now set, it's a good time to look at the results of the Effing Mets poll that asked the question: As the Mets close in on a potential Granderson signing, would that be enough?

Here are the results, and they are overwhelming.

Clearly, the fan base wants more from the team than just this one signing. As noted before, I think the Mets should go after Omar Infante, although I wouldn't be surprised to see the rest of their moves be done through trades. There is a good chance they are finished with serious free agents this winter.

  1. I thought when the Yankees first signed him it was a smart move. Good fielder, power and clutch hits.

However, having said that, he's still an under-250 hitter. The Mets have too many of those to be a real good team. Only Wright and Murphy can be expected to hit above .280. Others may surprise us: like Lagares and Tejada, but not much you can count on.

All-in-all, the Mets needed power and there wasn't much to choose from among FAs. At least without going to a 10-year contract!

I still think the Mets need at least one other proven hitter.
