Ken Rosenthal Shares Mets' SS Options

None of this is shocking, with the Mets widely expected to acquire a shortstop in trade. As was noted by esteemed colleague and noted chinstrap aficionado Rob Patterson, a solid shortstop is perhaps the key to completing this team.

Chris Owings of the Diamondbacks might be my first choice out of that group. At 22, he has only 20 games of big league experience but considerable upside. He did play 125 games in AAA Reno in Arizona's organization year and hit .330, impressive even considering the hitter friendly conditions in the Pacific Coast League. He hit 12 home runs in that same span, so while he may not provide a lot of pop, he would provide a competent bat in a position that was anything but last season.
