No. 4 @Mets prospect Wilmer Flores smacked two homers and plated five runs for Margarita in Venezuela on Tuesday. http://t.co/KWrVdmONNMFlores has now appeared in 16 games for the Margarita Braves of the Venezuelan Offseason Baseball League. His big night last night raised his season totals to .316/3/13. Flores has struck out only six times in 58 at-bats. He has walked nine times.

Due to his questionable speed and defensive range, if Wilmer is every going to find his way with the Mets, it will be with his bat. Blocked at his natural position by David Wright and at second by Daniel Murphy, it will be tough sledding this season. Many have pushed for a move to first base, where the Mets appear to have a void, but he has played only 18 games there in his minor league career.
Flores batted just .211 in 95 at-bats with the Mets in 2013 while battling multiple ankle injuries.
