Sense #mets still have strong reluctance at this point to offer Stephen Drew more than one year deal.The above tweet from Andy Martino of the New York Daily News comes on the heels of an Adam Rubin article in which he quoted a source with knowledge of the process who stated: "Drew is more of a possibility, than a probability." That news will be poorly received by Mets fans who have been theoretically sliding Drew in as a replacement for Ruben Tejada in 2014.

With that said, the Mets front office is great at strategically releasing misinformation. You'll recall that the Mets were definitely not going to offer Curtis Granderson a fourth year, until they did. You may also remember the team stating it was not in the market for any starting pitcher who would require more than a one-year deal, until they signed Bartolo Colon for two. What I'm getting at is that although the Mets say things, it doesn't necessarily guarantee they mean them.
I'm not staying they Mets will or won't sign Drew. Until this latest round of information I was confident the deal would get done. Although this hasn't shattered that resolve, I do think a third-year option may be off the table. I had figured that that might be one avenue the team could take to bring Drew on board. Now, who knows whats really going on..
