Mets Sign a Pair
Newsday is reporting that the New York Mets signed Long Island native, left-handed pitcher John Lannan to a Minor League contract today. Also widely reported is that the team re-signed Omar Quintanilla, who served as back-up to Ruben Tejada at shortstop. Obviously, neither of these signings will change the face of the franchise. They signal that nothing "big" is coming. Lannan will presumably contend with Jenrry Mejia for the fifth spot in the rotation. If it's possible, Quintanilla will push Tejada at short.
