Former Mets Manager and Player Jim Fregosi Passes Away

Jim Fregosi passed away today after suffering multiple strokes while vacationing on a cruise. His family were by his side and he went peacefully his son said. He was 71 years old.

Jim played in the bigs for 18 seasons with the Angels, Mets, Rangers, and Pirates and was a six time All Star. He also managed the Angels, White Sox, Phillies, and Blue Jays with his best season coming in '93 when he led the Phillies to the national league pennant. For the past 13 seasons he served as a special assistant to the general manager of the Atlanta Braves.

Fregosi was a jokester and his biggest claim to fame was that he was traded to the Mets for a package of players that that included some guy by the name of Nolan Ryan. Yikes.

RIP Jim, baseball lost a good one on Valentines day.
